If you've wondered, somewhere around midnight, whether there's something you can start yourself, adjust yourself, and stop yourself — there is. This is for you.
You hold the controls. You press Boost when a contraction comes and press it again when it passes — while it's on, fewer pain signals reach your brain. Between contractions, the steady tingling keeps prompting your body's own natural painkillers, your endorphins.
You want to be ready before the day. From 37 weeks you can use your Elle TENS® for backache and Braxton Hicks, so by the time labour starts the tingling and the keys are already familiar. One less thing to meet for the first time.
Your partner in it with you. Your partner places the pads on your back; you run the machine. There is a job for them from the first practice session to the last, and it is done for you.
Your options stay open. It is drug-free, so it rules nothing out. If you want gas and air or pethidine later, you can use them alongside your Elle TENS®.
Some use it for early labour; some find it carries them through the whole labour.
How Elle TENS® rental works
The best time to meet your Elle TENS® is weeks before you need it. So that's when the six weeks begin.
It's ready for you at 37 weeks.Pick a start date on the rental page that puts the box with you by 36 weeks. It comes by SingPost tracked parcel, or arrange your own pickup from us if you need it sooner on any day of the week.
Braxton Hicks become practice.From 37 weeks, every backache and every tightening is both relief and a chance to try the keys. Your partner learns where the pads go; you get familiar with the controls and the sensations you like. By the day, your hands know the machine without looking.
Your labour arrives.Start early and switch on at home, so your endorphins are already rising when the contractions ask more of you. It moves with you — standing, swaying, walking, in the car, into the ward. Press Boost when a contraction comes; press it again when it passes.
The relief stays for the first days with baby. When you're ready, a pair of pads can move to your lower abdomen for the afterbirth uterine contractions — often strongest in the first three days, and stronger for second-time mums, especially while breastfeeding. Or leave them on your back if that's where they help; it also eases the body aches that come with feeding. Same machine, same keys your hands already know.
Home in the same box it came in. Machine, leadwires and neck cord in. Seal on, prepaid SingPost label over the old one, and into any SingPost POPDrop kiosk at any hour. The electrodes are yours to keep, and so is the wet bag. Want it longer? Want to keep it? Just send us a message.

Everything the Elle TENS does, plus a clear backlit screen you can read in a dim room, a built-in contraction timer so you can see your rhythm at a glance, and a contact sensor that eases the output the moment a pad lifts, so you just press it back on.
Most mums are happy with either. If you'd like the backlit screen and the contraction timer for the night, choose the Elle TENS 2; if you'd rather keep it simple, the Elle TENS does everything you need.
